The North Harbour federation has denied their clubs the opportunity to compete in the 2008 Northern League, the highest level of competition available to clubs in the northern region during the winter season.
Instead, they will be taking part in a league competition of lesser standing which will not be afforded any results coverage on Scoreboard, as doing so would be contrary to the site's prime objective - providing a one-stop results service for the highest levels of regional league competitions around the country.
I have great empathy with the plight of the clubs in the North Harbour federation, who, through no fault of their own, have been denied the opportunity to compete against the best clubs in the Auckland and Waikato-Bay of Plenty federations on a weekly basis by a management decision which, in the view of many others as well as myself, does not serve the game's best interests in any way whatsoever.
If anything, it's a decision which embraces mediocrity, and I am not prepared to compromise my standards, nor those of this site, by following suit.
